week 8 wooden cylinder concept

This week's post is on taking a step further from paper to wood. knowing what type of wood and thickness.. the wood is Baltic birch plywood and the thickness is 1/8 of a inch deep of 11x17 for illustrator documents that's set for 11x17

image above is the sketch idea of a wooden cylinder. sketching out the pieces of the cylinder and the equation of circumference for the small circle for the wood to wrap around to give a cylinder form

above is a screenshot of the outlined design of the cylinder made from the shape tool on illustrator.. circle tool for the circles of course and rectangle tool to make a wood piece bend to wrap around the round pieces to make a cylinder shape
craft: crafted done by hand with sketching and using the computer for adobe illustrator.
concept: the professor wanted me and two other students who have been in his sculpture class do something differently other than make wood cubes since I have created one in the past. create a 3x3 cylinder but as well as two round wood pieces has to be 3x3 and the smaller ones to hold the wood has to be 2.75inchs and the wood to mold the cylinder has to be 8.635 inches in length but still 3 inches by height.
Composition: so far I made the cylinder from a rough sketch of measurement but no need for grid paper and from there I use illustrator and create the same 11x17 document and export it for cs6 version not creative cloud(cc). create perfect circles 3x3 of 2 and 2.75 circles and the wood to be bent to shape the cylinder to be sent to cut on the laser wood cutter to be wood glued.
