week 4 Crayon boxes

In this week's blog is on crayon boxes. Now from gaining much knowledge and constructing a box we beginning to move forward to understand something you are familiarized with. That something is the Crayola crayon box. Knowing the measurements and containment of the box. the crayon's measurement to knowing the interior spacing of the box. the goal was to construct 3 crayon boxes using the adobe illustrator software and  tabloid 11x17 paper to cut out and construct the crayon boxes. One simple crayon box design to hold 8 crayons in the box and make two variations of the box.

Craft: all 3 boxes was sketched and measured on grid paper by hand, then implemented into illustrator for refine shapes and printed on tabloid paper from 2d view to constructed in a 3d box form.
Concept: the first box is just a simple crayon box influenced by the Crayola brand crayon box. The first variation box was taking a exaggerated approach to the variation just to give a rectangular prism form and as well as the trapezoidal prism form. 
composition: the forms of the crayon boxes had to be interior space measurement of the height and width of the 8 crayon in groupings of 8 across, four or two stack up, grouped in the trapezoidal shape. Designed on the gridded paper having set dimensions of the crayons and create a container to store the crayons so you sketch and measure.  then proceed to illustrator to take the measurements of the shapes.. I mainly used the rectangle tool to form the shapes of each crayon box. Thus, making sure the document size is 11x17 for  tabloid print.. continuing to using an exo-knife to cut out the outlined box. thus, lead to folding sides and tabs to be taped not glued until prototypes can provide space and ability to hold 8 crayon without falling apart or being functional.

Hi Welcome to my first blog post, I'm formerly known as ANFASLIM or Slim. But for now academically standpoint My name is Marcell Key. I'm Currently a Junior attending Saint Xavier University (SXU). I'm Studio Art Major, Which Means an artist who creates visual works of art in a studio space or surrounding. I've been attending this institute since the fall of 15' and this semester may be my last since I plan on transferring to grand valley state university for illustration and psychology. In the past semester I have created an 3D object was a 3d printed object of an alien deer. the deer was made from an idea i had from a digital series i did of this glow geometric deer in a glow forest .. I thought to myself this would be cool to create as a 3d object so i created using blender i believe.. I converted to stl file and sent it to the 3d printer and i scaled to a reasonable size. week 7 completed crayon boxes

In this week's post is on the three graphic design made on the trapezoidal prisms.
