Week 3 tabloid Boxes

In this week's blog we create tabloid Paper boxes. Using Adobe illustrator for image masking and box outline design.
The assignment as it is based last week's grid cube but instead using glossy 11x17 paper for the cubes as thicker paper material. one of the cubes will remain 2 inch and the other will be 3 inches just variety of sizes to work with on the material.

Craft: the 2 boxes are crafted by computer design using adobe illustrator and hand buy using exo-knife or scissors and folding and gluing with Elmer's glue stick.
Concept: taking the basis of creating a box and challenging the design to software usage and thicker material. Using variation of size as a challenge.
Composition: the cubes are made in a clean outline measured sketch on grid papers both in the same center composition to form an symmetrical cross or lower case t form. the larger cube is measured a inch more but crafted the same way. after sketching you can scan the image as a placement outline for the adobe software or from scratch using shapes in the program and putting measurements. Then you set up as normally on the program File>new document. From there the layout should be tabloid and then landscape mode which is horizontal view, and the measurements should be 11x17 inches. use the shape tool and click rectangle tool and double click to screen to set up measurements.. you basically just repeat the step to form out the cube and then for the image masking you click place and browser for an image of artwork you created as saved and open it and place it on where you want the to be shown on the cube or resize and configure how to get the whole artwork on the cube but the image layer has to be under the cube outline layer. Next you want to click the cube outline to select then simply click object clipping mask and it will mask the image on to the shape in desire location of artwork. and save the document to USB drive or google drive.. and then print on the Xerox printer and set up the printing to the same dimensions as your cube document. Proceed to printer and then cutting out the objects of both 11x17 tabloid papers for the one 2 inch and 3 inch cube. formly cut out the shape outline with scissors or exo knife. proceed to constructing and gluing . As a result you get a 2 inch cube and 3 inch cube both with artworks.
